Embedded Project on Obstacle Avoidance Robotic Vehicle

ABSTRACT:

The project is designed to develop an obstacle avoidance robotic vehicle using ultrasonic sensors for its movement. A microcontroller of 8051 family is utilized to achieve the desired operation.

A robot is a machine that can perform the task automatically or with guidance. Robotics is generally is the combination of computational intelligence and physical machines (motors). Computational intelligence includes the programmed instructions.

The project proposes robotic vehicle that has intelligence built in it with the end goal that it guides itself at whatever point an obstacle comes in front of it. This robotic vehicle is manufactured, utilizing a microcontroller of 8051 family. An ultrasonic sensor is utilized to detect any obstacles in front of it and sends a command to the microcontroller.

Depending upon the information signal received, the microcontroller redirects the robot to move in the alternate direction by actuating motors interfaced to it through a motor driver IC.

This idea in future can be extended in such a way that if a destination is fed to the robot, the robot can map entire terrain and can achieve its destination by deciding a suitable path and avoiding obstacles.

Applications:

1) This line following robot can likewise be adjusted to a modified robot in any surface by utilizing just one motor with homemade fixtures according to the detailed instructions give.

2) Similarly, the same walking robot can be connected with the special magnetic material according to guidelines to climb a wall of any vertical metallic surface says a refrigerator body.
